Q1: How did you get into dancing?

TD: When I was younger my parents noticed me sitting in weird and flexible positions on the couch, so they took me to gymnastics. The gymnastics coach said I was too flexible and should rather do acrobatic dance… from there my different styles in dance developed, and my passion for dancing continued growing!

Q2: What style do you enjoy and are there any styles you struggle with?

TD: I enjoy most styles, if it has anything to do with moving your body to the music I am in my happy place. My favorite style would probably be contemporary and modern as I feel the most free and creative in these styles. The style I struggle with the most would be tap, as I have never really had training, but would definitely like to work on it more!

Q3: Talk us through your training sessions.

TD: Training sessions with the Vodacom Bulls Babes always start with a very warm and happy welcome from all the girls. Laughs and smiles are everywhere no matter what! From there we socialize with each other, updating our friends on what they missed out on from the last rehearsal. Lol! Then Nicola takes us through a good warm up. This warm up is there to challenge us, introduce us to moves and techniques we haven’t done in a while, but most importantly it’s there to get our bodies ready for the main routine. Once we have rehearsed the main routine… 100 times… we have some more laughs and giggles, afterwards we pray together and encourage each other for the week ahead.

Q4: What does it mean to you when you dance on Loftus Versfeld?

TD: It’s a feeling like no other!! The amount of happiness I feel on that field is unbelievable! In those moments I feel invincible, like I am capable to do absolutely anything!!! It’s a feeling that never fades no matter how many times I’m on that field! And it’s something I will never take for granted!

Q5: What do you do besides from being a Vodacom Bulls Babe?

TD: I am a Freelance Dancer, an Aerialist as well as a part time dance teacher and choreographer.

Q6: Do you believe dance can change the world for the better and if so, why?

TD: Yes, yes and yes!!! Dance is a passion, and those individuals who perform bring passion, joy, happiness and love to the world! If you just watch a performer on the stage or on the field, they are performing with eveything inside of them! That in itself can make someone’s day! I honestly believe dancing is the door to a happy and joyous heart! If people can just dance in the morning while they are brushing their teeth, or dance with their partners to a romantic song, something amazing will spark in their hearts because dance can ignite a beautiful fire in anybodies heart, that’s just the power of dance!
