The Bulls Daisies registered a convincing 34-0 bonus point victory over the Cell C Sharks in Durban. The Tshwane based ladies racked up seven tries to remain unbeaten in the tournament thus far as well as moving up to the top of the log in the 2023 SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division competition.
The round 4 tie took place at the Hollywoodbets Kingspark Stadium where the Daisies set the match alight in the opening stanza with four tries as Kayla ‘Kat’ de Vries, Shiniqwa Lamprecht and Ayanda Malinga went over the line with Lamprecht converting one of the tries.
Looking to better their outing in Gqeberha last week, where they struggled to add more points in the second half, Hayden Groepes’ herd fought hard to add another two tries as second-half substitute Maria Tshiremba danced her way to the line, adding two tries to the teams’ tally for the afternoon. Once again, Zintle Nonkasana provided further impetus with the boot, converting one of the two tries to stretch the visitor’s points tally.
Groepes was most pleased by his side’s ability to improve in the second half, something they missed the week before.
“it was a really good performance by the ladies. First half they put up a good showing and a much better response to the second half in game three.
I thought it was a massive defensive effort by the ladies in the second half. They had to withstand some pressure from the Sharks in that (second) half and they did well to finish off that game,”
On his team scoring points and doing well to not conceide, the Bulls Daisies mentor said: “A massive compliment goes out to coach Mandisa Williams in how she has led the team and her department specifically, the team really did well,”
On the return of 15 Boks to camp in the coming week, Groepes said: “We definitely are excited and are looking forward to getting them (Boks) back in Pretoria and back into the group and we will assess where we are on Monday,”
The Bulls Daisies will be preparing to play their first home game the following weekend and Groepes said it will be a special moment with a few thousand in the stands.
“We can do with a few thousand more supporters at the stadium and we hope that they will be coming up to Harlequins Rugby Club to support our Bulls Daisies.”
