Rugby fans have even more reason to take their seats this season, as Investec unveils an exciting in-stand Investec Champions Cup competition, set to kick off at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, where the Vodacom Bulls will take on reigning Investec Champions Cup champions Union Bordeaux Bègles.

Fans in the stands will get an opportunity to win their share of R300 000, while also giving back to the community. At each of the six South African home pool games across our nation’s stadiums, one lucky fan per game will win R50 000: R25 000 for themselves and R25 000 donated to the Promaths Bursary Fund on their behalf.

Promaths was co-founded by Investec and Kutlwanong Maths, Science and Technology Centre 20 years ago giving children from under-privileged areas access to additional quality maths and science education. This competition will see a total of R150 000 handed over to in-stand fans and the Promaths Bursary fund over the season respectively, extending rugby’s spirit of teamwork and generosity beyond the field.

“This is about celebrating the fans who bring the energy, loyalty and heart that make South African rugby so special,” says Peta Dixon, Head of Sponsorships at Investec. “But this competition is about more than prizes, it’s about reimagining how fans experience rugby. By bringing the action into the stands, we’re giving supporters a reason to cheer louder and feel truly part of the game. The in-stand draw adds an interactive, playful twist that creates unforgettable moments while also connecting every fan to a purpose bigger than themselves and truly aligning to Investec’s purpose of creating enduring worth, living in and not off society.”

The excitement peaks at halftime when three lucky ticket-holders will be called onto the field to test their luck. Each will pick a zebra from an Investec box, and the fan who draws the one with the Investec Champions Cup ribbon takes home the prize.

“We are immensely excited for the Investec Champions Cup to get underway in South Africa with Vodacom Bulls facing the reigning champions, Union Bordeaux Bègles,” says Jacques Raynaud, Chief Executive Officer of European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), the tournament organisers of the Investec Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup. “Our international club rugby fans are a huge part of what makes our sport so special. Club rugby is all about community, connection and pride, and when that energy is channelled, we create a culture where rugby uplifts, inspires and supports the families and communities that make the game possible.”

The same spirit of connection and community that fuels the game extends far beyond it – into initiatives that shape brighter futures for young South Africans. It’s this conviction – that passion and purpose are inseparable – that underpins Investec’s support for Promaths and its mission to empower the next generation.

“Partnerships like this remind us that small moments of joy can create big impact,” says Collen Mkhomazi, Head of Education at the Kutlwanong Centre for Maths, Science and Technology. “Each seat filled represents more than support for the game – it’s a step toward equipping young South Africans with the maths and science skills they need to unlock opportunity and contribute to the country’s growth.”

“In South Africa, rugby isn’t just a game, it’s a movement. And when you’re deeply invested, Out of the Ordinary things happen, on and off the field,” concludes Dixon.

The 2025/2026 Investec Champions Cup gets underway on Friday, when England’s Sale Sharks host the Glasgow Warriors of Scotland, and South Africa’s DHL Stormers are away at Aviron Bayonnais in France. The full fixture schedule can be viewed here.
