Rocket Man, Stravino Jacobs has penned a contract extension with the Vodacom Bulls that will see him remain in the capital until June of 2027. Jacobs, who initially joined the club in 2020, was contracted until June 2024.
The Paarl Gimnasium alumni has had an impressive start to his career at Loftus, winning two Currie Cup trophies in his 35 appearances for the men in blue. Rocket Man has – to-date – dotted down 24 tries in the Daisy and the 23-year-old enjoyed a great run of form shortly before his untimely injury earlier in the year. The Loftus faithful can expect more of his fireworks when the new season begins.
Edgar Rathbone, BBCo Chief Executive Officer, emphasised the importance of retaining top talent as the franchise continues with its European quest for glory.
“We have seen the demands of playing in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship and the Heineken Champions Cup, and they require one to have great depth of top talent in order to have a good chance at competing for silverware. We are fortunate to already have some of the best players on our roster and retaining them is just as critical as acquiring them,”
“I am thrilled that Stravino has committed to our project with a long-term contract and I know that what he has done for us in the past, he will continue to deliver and some more, helping us as we continue to represent our fans across new territories of the game,”
“It is great for our club that he has extended his contract.”
Jacobs said the decision extend his stay was an easy one, considering the promise of the future.
“Extending my stay was one of the easiest things to do because I know where we are as a team and where want to be, and I am confident that we are going places because we all share the same desire and hunger for success,”
“The Vodacom Bulls have been incredible support pillars for me, especially during this down-time whilst I am recovering from injury. I have adjusted comfortably and now I can confidently call Loftus home and it is the place I would like to call home for the next few seasons too.”
“The love and support of the fans has been immense for me, my confidence and my career; and I want to continue to enjoy that privilege whenever I run out with the daisy on my chest.”
