The Vodacom Bulls’ Kurt-Lee Arendse was one of the standout performers in the inaugural season of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, and with only days to go before the kickoff of the new season he’s revealed the secret to his scintillating form that earned him the competition’s Player of the Month Award in March and a Springbok debut in July.

“It was before our home game against Ulster. Our team psychologist, Dr Henning Gericke, told me ‘Kurt just be light’. I took that into the game and didn’t overthink anything. I just enjoyed it,” Arendse said of the mental tip that he incorporated into his game.

Arendse was one of several Vodacom Bulls players who took full advantage of the stage they were given in this competition.

“You need to take every opportunity with both hands and I’m just grateful that I got the opportunity to play in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship and to make my debut for the Springboks. Coach Jake White is great in giving us opportunities. He made me believe that whatever you put your mind to you can achieve. In this second season I just want to better myself and learn and improve.”
