The #BullsFamily would like to congratulate Springbok hooker Schalk Brits on a career filled with incredible memories after he hung up his boots for a second time after helping South Africa to lift the William Webb Ellis trophy at the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The 38-year-old proved to be a hardened forward on the pitch, who occasionally played no.8, with explosive power and speed that could rival most backs.

Brits made his Springbok debut in 2008 and amassed 15 caps in total where he performed with aplomb everytime his country called on his services.

The former Paul Roos Gymnasium scholar went on to earn 74 Vodacom Super Rugby caps with the Cats and DHL Stormers before finishing his franchise career with the Vodacom Bulls in preparation for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

He enjoyed a successful tenure with English club, Saracens where he donned the black and red jersey on more than 200 occasions.

Brits also represented the Xerox Golden Lions and DHL Western Province in the Currie Cup.

“Fans may think that we have lost him from the rugby world but a legend like Schalk will never really retire from our hearts and minds. He is one the best players to ever strapped on rugby boots, and grace and humility is what really set him apart,” said Shanil Mangaroo, BBCo Head: Media, Marketing and Communications.
