The Vodacom Bulls Under-21 side continued their dominance in the SA Rugby Under-21 Cup when they claimed a satisfactory 47-17 victory over rivals, Cell C Sharks U21, at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
This was the third consecutive win for the Tshwane-based side, who remain the only unbeaten side in the inter-provincial competition. The Vodacom Bulls U21’s also claimed wins against their Leopards and DHL Western Province counterparts in the opening two matches of the season.
The side which is coached by Hayden Groepes began the battle on the Loftus A-field strongly when they scored four converted tries in the opening 40 minutes of the encounter, with the visitors only managing to respond with one unconverted try in the first half.
The Vodacom Bulls U21’s continued to have a tight grip on the game in the closing half, adding a further three tries, while the Cell C Sharks U21’s managed to score two more. However, the home team had done more than enough to ensure a comfortable victory when the final whistle was blown.
The side from Tshwane sits comfortably at the top of the SA Rugby U21 Cup table with 15 points, while DHL Western Province lies in the second spot after having gathered a total of nine log points.
The Vodacom Bulls U21 will next face rivals, in an away clash against the Lions U21’s, in Johannesburg on Saturday, September 24.
