The 2023 edition of the Vodacom Bulletjie Day at Loftus Versfeld will be a key milestone event in the history of the day since its inception. These were the remarks of BBCo Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Rathbone, who said the day was a special connecting tool for the game and its future stars, whilst applauding title sponsor, Vodacom for their unwavering support for this grass root development program.

“This is the 30th edition of the day, a special one for us as a franchise because young girls and boys have the special opportunity to play on the same pitch as their heroes and heroines, with plenty of activities for them,”

“This year is also Vodacom’s sweet 16 as a sponsor of the day, just a further affirmation of their commitment to community development and helping us nurture the sustainability of our beautiful game.”

Vodacom Bulletjie Day is a special day set aside on the Loftus calendar for a special crop of players, girls and boys aged between 6 and 8 years old, to come and enjoy a day of rugby and fun under the Tshwane sun at the fortress.

“This is such a special day for us as a franchise and a s rugby union. We get to see our youngest stars step into the fortress and continue to water the passion that is growing in them for the game. This is what development looks like at the most basic level of the game,” Rathbone added.

“We are grateful for partners like Vodacom, who continue to support causes that truly add value to our ecosystem. They have been tremendous to this Bulletjie Day, supporting it beyond measure for the last 16 years now and truly, they have made it this special day for our future stars,”

Rathbone concluded by saying: “I know that both the participants and their overjoyed parents will have a wonderful time on the park, we cannot wait to welcome them to Loftus on Saturday.”

The President of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, Willem Strauss commended all those involved with the organising of the day and highlighted the importance of the sport.

“The Vodacom Buletjie Day is a special highlight for the Vodacom Bulls and arguably the biggest rugby event on rugby’s global calendar in terms of participants. At this age, youngsters – boys and girls – learn the game’s core values, such as respect for the game, for one another, for referees and for the community,”

“All these incredible values make our game the most beautiful game there is,”

Strauss added: “This day also serves as a great opportunity for the Vodacom Bulls franchise to continue adding value within our communities and to grow its support base; thereby growing our participation numbers,”

“I know everyone will walk away having had the most fun.”
