The Isuzu Bulls Daisies Women’s Day Breakfast, held on Friday at Isuzu Centurion, was a powerful celebration of women in sport, leadership, and community. The event brought together athletes, executives, and invited guests to honour the journey of South Africa’s premier women’s rugby team, both on and off the field.
Under the theme “From the Ground Up: Honouring Her Journey,” the morning paid tribute to the resilience, discipline, and growth of the Daisies, who recently claimed their third consecutive SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division title. The theme resonated throughout the programme, highlighting the individual paths of players and the collective strength of the team.
MC Iviwe Poti guided the morning’s proceedings, which included heartfelt addresses from Zintle Mpupha (pictured), a dual international and trailblazer in women’s rugby, and Khanyisa “KC” Chawane, captain of Netball South Africa, who shared her own journey of sporting excellence and community upliftment.
The presence of Esti Beaumont, Field Operations Manager at Isuzu, underscored the brand’s commitment to breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries.
The event also acknowledged the vital role of sponsors, including Gauteng Province and title sponsor Isuzu, whose support was described as “not just sponsorship, but belief in the future of women’s rugby.”
Guests enjoyed a vibrant programme that included a competition hosted by Deon van Wyk of Isuzu Centurion, a vote of thanks from team representatives, and media interviews with players and dignitaries. The morning concluded with a celebratory meal and background music, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
With the Women’s Rugby World Cup just weeks away, the breakfast served as both a celebration and a rallying point, reminding all in attendance that the journey of South African women in sport is only just beginning.
