The Vodacom Blue Bulls are preparing for their first Currie Cup match against DHL Western Province this coming weekend after beating the Phakisa Pumas in a warm-up match at Loftus Versfeld last week.
Unfortunately, flank Nic de Jager suffered a Achilles ligament injury against the Phakisa Pumas and has been ruled out of the remainder of the Currie Cup season.
Flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff has recovered fully from his knee injury and will be available for selection while Springbok lock Lood de Jager has recovered from his shoulder injury and it is expected that he will get game time in the Currie Cup before he is called up for national duty.
Newly signed lock Andries Ferreira has completed his rehabilitation for his ankle injury and is training with the squad A decision on his availability will be made later in the week.
Loose forward Paul Schoeman is still recovering from the injury he picked up during the Vodacom Super Rugby tournament and he will miss out on the shortened Currie Cup.
Scrumhalf Marco Jansen van Vuren is coming to end of his rehabilitation and is likely to be available for selection in 2-4 weeks.
