It’s rugby all the way, and South African brand Planet Fitness has just announced its status as the official fitness partner of the Vodacom Bulls.

“We feel like we’ve just touched down by scoring this sponsorship with the legendary Vodacom Bulls brand and the incredible roster of players they have, enabling them to train for peak performance at our 47 clubs around the country,” says Mannee de Wet, MD of Planet Fitness. Four of their players, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Marco van Staden, Canan Moodie and Willie le Roux are all set to make appearances for the Springboks at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

BBCo Chief Executive, Edgar Rathbone remarked: “We are extremely happy to welcome onboard a partner that believes in leading a proactive lifestyle as a fundamental to a healthier and happier life. Each matchday, our players step onto the field not only chasing victory but also to inspire many to get up and be active, and now our entire Vodacom Bulls family can have a place to go and further their active habits with professional help at arm’s reach.”

“The nature of our high-performance environment is one that requires many moving parts to collaborate and cohesively work together to elevate the quality of our rugby. This partnership with Planet Fitness will help us do just that. Offering our entire ecosystem the opportunity to fine-tune their skills and become better versions of themselves.”

Rathbone added: “We are also grateful that Planet Fitness has extended this partnership to include our staff cohort as well as the immediate families of our players, really taking this act of encouraging living active lives to the next level.”

As the new fitness home of the Vodacom Bulls, many of the Tshwane-based players will make good use of Planet Fitness’ 13 local clubs including Centurion, Olympus, Lynnwood, Queenswood, Waterkloof Ridge, Menlyn and Montana, as well as its high concentration of clubs in Gauteng.  The brand looks forward to profiling these sporting heroes on its digital platforms and hosting several dynamic events, appearances, and collaborations with the squad.

“Our world is health and fitness and our investment is one of health and fitness,” says de Wet. The brand became the Official Olympic Team Training Facility for SASCOC athletes in 2021, and supports the Sunshine Tour pro golfers. “Sports talent is part of our nation’s DNA, and we feel a huge sense of service and gratitude to professional sportspeople who stand for peak performance,” says de Wet who co-founded the business 27-years ago with a single club and understands the grit and determination it takes to succeed.

“We believe that aligning these two blue-blooded brands is a great match.”
